Upon completing the course, the student will have an understanding of Oral Anatomy, Sterilization, Disinfection, Safety Standards and Regulations, and Digital Radiography (X-rays). Students will also receive instruction in Preventative Dentistry, Chair-side Techniques, Taking Impressions, Fabricating Study Models, and Dental Materials. Instruction will be in the form of direct observation, clinical and lab practice, and 90 hours active participation in an internship at a local dental office. Successful completion of the course provides an excellent foundation for the student to work in an entry level position within a dental office. It also provides background for the student to pursue a post high school education for other dental professions such as Dental Hygienist or Dentist. Dental Professions are currently in high demand. Demand for these professions is projected to remain high well into the future. |
